Privacy Policy

Overview

Candoa Browser is made by an independent developer. This policy explains what data the candoa.app website and the Candoa Browser app handle, and why. The short version: your browsing stays on your Mac, we collect as little as possible, and we never sell your data. This policy is provided in English.

The website

candoa.app uses privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) to understand how many people visit and how fast pages load. We do not use advertising trackers. When you first visit, your browser’s language setting is used once to send you to the right language version of the site.

The browser

Your browsing data — history, tabs, Spaces, and settings — is stored locally on your Mac. We do not collect your browsing history. The app periodically contacts our servers to check for updates; these requests carry basic technical information (such as the app version) and are not used to identify you or build a profile.

Eli, the browser assistant

Eli only works when you invoke it. When you ask Eli something, your request and the relevant page content are sent to our servers and passed to a third-party AI model provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) to generate the response. We do not use this content to train models, and we do not sell it. Providers process it under their own terms to deliver the response.

Accounts and billing

If you create an account, we store your email address and the data needed to authenticate you. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.

Your choices

You can use Candoa Browser without an account, and Eli never runs unless you invoke it. To ask about, correct, or delete the data associated with your account, reach out and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
