The guide

The guide is a handful of hints that point at the real buttons on the screen. Each hint dims everything else, lights up one control, and says in a sentence what it's for. It runs the first time you sign in, and again the first time you open an add-on your local has bought, so nobody has to read a manual before their first day of work.

Every hint is yours alone. Finishing or skipping a set retires it for you, on every device and at every local you work for, and it never appears again on its own. Nothing you do in the guide changes a record.

What each set covers

• Finding your way around runs on the dashboard: the sidebar, the search box and Cmd+K, the Chat button that opens Eli, the bell that holds what still needs you, and Help.
• Working a list runs on the members list, and what it shows is true of every list in Candoa: search and filters, saved views, the add button, and the menu that holds columns, import, and export.
• A set for each add-on runs the first time you open that add-on's screens: Grievances, Dues, Rosters, Communications, Join, and the member portal. Each one says where the work lives and what the main button does.

Walk through a set of hints

1. Press Next to move on, Back to return to the hint before, and the numbered circles to jump back to one you've read.
2. Press Skip to stop. Whether you skip or reach Got it at the end, that set is done and won't come back by itself.
3. Escape closes the guide, the right arrow and Enter move on, and the left arrow goes back.

A hint about a button your permission can't use is left out, because the button isn't on your screen. If none of a set's buttons are on the screen — a list with nothing in it yet, for example — the guide waits for a screen that has them.

See the guide again

1. Open your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
2. Press Show the guide.

It runs the set for the screen you're on. On a screen no set covers, it runs Finding your way around and takes you to the dashboard for it. The contents page of this help also has Show me around, which opens the app and runs the first set.
